be still and listen.

3 Positives:
test cut for new design went well, but isn’t quite there yet – tweaking today
rain in the forecast – we need every drop!
fixed the talking watch for T. He likes that thing almost as much as his dad did.

My Journey Notes:
T’s first post-op went fairly well. We’re back up to 5 different eye drops a day – with different instructions for all! It’s kind of crazy. Hoping to find a few more things to help with accessibility that aren’t going to cost an arm or a leg — he has to go back to work today or go on unpaid leave. He’s been out the 3 days allowed for illness. If he goes in today, he resets the clock and can use vacation pay for the next two half days he needs to take for his next post-ops. The dr added another one since there’s quite a bit of swelling around the incision site and it’s causing some discomfort under the lid.

Gathered tax documents yesterday. Just missing one now. Hoping to get things ready for filing by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed things go better than last year.

My Journey Notes:
The surgery for T went well. He is essentially non-seeing at the moment — his good eye is patched and of course the other eye has very limited sight… just shapes and grays for the most part. No depth perception or peripheral vision. He was willing to give the walking stick a “test” run yesterday. He does get turned around, but is doing fairly well with it. It’s hard for me not to jump in and “save” him from a missed turn, but I am waiting longer for him to ask for help. At least the walking stick has kept him from walking into a few walls. So that’s a good thing.

He does know his way around the kitchen – he found plenty of food to graze on without any trouble. 🙂 So that’s good.
We both got some sleep last night – much needed after a very long day.

make your blessings count

3 Positives:
friends and friendships
an outpouring of love and care
blessings

My Journey Notes:
Today’s the day. T’s eye surgery is scheduled for a little later this morning. We’re hoping and praying for a good outcome – He received a blessing last night. I’m grateful they remembered to ask for blessings for the surgical team. This surgery is only a stop gap and may slow down the progression for a while, but we are hoping for his vision to not to go any dimmer for a bit longer. I’m hoping for a year, but I’ll take even a month or two at this point. We updated his phone yesterday with a couple of “accessibility” helps. I have one more to do this morning while he is in surgery and I have control of his phone, as it is his lifeline for work and home. I’d hoped we could use his iPad for a few things for work, but it doesn’t fit into his pockets! LOL. Grateful we have a few days to make additional adjustments before he hopes to return to work.

I’m grateful that my memory issues haven’t declined much and that what we’re currently doing seems to be keeping things at a “pause” for the moment. VERY GRATEFUL that we can help each other in our unique ways during this time.
