Allow yourself time to grow.

CAREGIVER NOTE:

He said he didn’t want a birthday party this year. However, yesterday, there was a two hour conversation about that very thing. He was worried about the food and who was bringing what and where his party was going to be held. My poor husband was trying to field the questions, but the answers he was giving weren’t quite enough to settle the concern. When I was finally able to jump into the conversation, we had it all sorted out in just a few minutes and he was able to let it drop – at least until this evening after the “boys” get together for their weekly zoom call to discuss a few of the details. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ll return and report to him with any answers and decisions that have been made.

Relax, breathe, be patient.

CAREGIVER NOTES:
Holidays are difficult. I’ve noticed that if he remembers what day it is, he lingers a little longer studying the picture of his wife in the mornings and is a little more melancholy during the day. He spent a little bit of time outside yesterday afternoon, and was even happier to hear that the row of cabbage survived the last frost! It was about the only thing that did! He’ll be really excited to watch the garden grow from his new perch on the deck this summer.

Be a stand-out.ย

CAREGIVER NOTE:
Annual physical went as expected. Not much in the way of change. He still doesn’t want to use the walker around the house even though she strongly recommended that he do so. She’s a good dr, and I wish she wasn’t retiring at the end of the year. She was a little worried about his weight loss, but we attributed that to the illness/COVID he had a week or so ago. He was only taking a bite or two of food and then pushing away the tray. He did have some blood work done and we should have those results in the next couple of days. She also recommended he add a couple of scoops of ice cream to his weekly diet to help put the weight back on. ๐Ÿ™‚
