We miss them both this holiday season. It’s been a little more difficult to get into the holiday spirit, but we’re very grateful for the time we were able to have together as they traveled their journeys with memory loss. Neither path was the same, though there were some similarities. Grateful for the lessons learned over the last 9 years.
Give yourself some space and grace.

Last evening marked one month since his passing. Emotions were big at times. Grateful he’s no longer in pain or struggling with dementia and has joined those who were waiting for him on the other side. We miss him, however, we know he is happy.
Good, Better, Great!
Gatherings — our family always had a December gathering to celebrate the holidays. We’ve scaled things back a bit since Mom passed, however, this year, with the help of a few members of the family, we are scaling back up again. Not quite ready to pass the torch yet to the next generation, but I think that will be the case in just a couple of years. It would be nice to formalize the organization a bit — and make sure that the traditions we hold dear continue with the cousins and beyond.
