Be a stand-out.

CAREGIVER NOTE:
Annual physical went as expected. Not much in the way of change. He still doesn’t want to use the walker around the house even though she strongly recommended that he do so. She’s a good dr, and I wish she wasn’t retiring at the end of the year. She was a little worried about his weight loss, but we attributed that to the illness/COVID he had a week or so ago. He was only taking a bite or two of food and then pushing away the tray. He did have some blood work done and we should have those results in the next couple of days. She also recommended he add a couple of scoops of ice cream to his weekly diet to help put the weight back on. 🙂

Savor the moments…..

CAREGIVER NOTE:
He thought he’d misplaced a letter and was worried about not responding to it in time…. it took nearly 3 hours for him to work through the issue. Searching drawers, bookcases, tables, anywhere there might be a piece of paper he thought might be what he was looking for. The letter never existed and despite our sharing some details with him after he shared what he thought he remembered, he was still up and searching every 3 – 5 minutes. ( He did get a bit of exercise in with all the walking, however) Luckily, he wound down over dinner and that seemed to be the end of the problem for the evening. We’ll see if it rears up again today, though I really hope not.

smiles

A sunny smile (even on a cloudy day) can never be ignored.

CAREGIVER NOTE:

A little time sitting in the sunshine yesterday afternoon was a welcome change in the routine. It’s been a while since we’ve had him “want” to go outside and enjoy some fresh air — listen to the birds sing, watch the clouds and get away from the TV and the news of the day. He sported his new sunglasses and opted not to wear a hat for a change. It was fun to hear a change in conversation, note the changes in the scenery since our last time out and enjoy a beautiful spring day.
