CAREGIVER NOTE:

I think we’ll all be grateful when the pending sale goes through. Anxiety levels about “what could go wrong” are through the roof; disrupting sleeping, eating routines and more. Thankfully, the “going wrong” moments are few and far between. He’s very anxious about things, however, and no matter what we choose to try to distract him with, doesn’t work for very long. Counting down the days until the closing…. and hopefully, he’ll be able to rest a little easier for a while.

CAREGIVER NOTE:

His eyes light up when he shares a story — even after repeating it for the 5th time. It was fun to watch the animation and joy he had has he re-lived the stories he was sharing. He’d rewind occasionally and regal me with a slightly different version — embellished just slightly. He’s very proud of his family.

CAREGIVER NOTE:

Kindness goes a long way… even on a not so good sort of day. We’ve had quite a few of those lately. Lots of sundowning and hallucinations the last 2 weeks or so. He swears he’s done walk throughs of the old house — fixed problems and more.

Grateful for the garden. He is enjoying it and goes out every afternoon to “watch it grow” and marvel at the ever so slight and bigger changes he does notice. He’s very happy with the garden — hoping it will keep him happy for a while longer — or until he can harvest at least one of the cabbages that are growing in the garden.

CAREGIVER NOTE:

Laugh! It helps make everything better. It was fun to watch the chuckles as he reviewed what had just transpired. The smile was big… no anger at the mistake or mess-up. Decided eating another meal would fix it all up and he’d be good to go back to bed for the remainder of the night.

CAREGIVER NOTE:
It’s Father’s Day. How we miss those that have passed on, but are grateful we have more time with T’s dad. He has been and is a blessing. He has been a good dad. He still teaches us a lot and has much wisdom to share.

He has decided he likes the clean shaven look — so it was back to the barber yesterday for a shave and a haircut (he didn’t need that, but opted to go a little closer anyway). So I guess he’ll be making regular visits to the barber. He broke the electric shaver we got for him at Christmas, and he can’t see well enough to do it himself. He doesn’t want me or T to help him either — I guess the female barber is much better looking than we are.
