“Everyday holds the possibility of a miracle.” Unknown
What will I make of today? How will I use it? Will I see the potential of a miracle or two or will I let them slip by because I’m too busy to notice? Ah, there’s the rub! Do we get too caught up in the daily hub-bub and forget to smell the roses? Stop to make a phone call or send a note? I fear I’m just as guilty as the next person at times, but today, I choose to stop, take a deep breath, smell the roses, make two or three phone calls; even send a couple of handwritten notes and drop them in the mail. Today’s the day — will I be someone’s passing thought “It’s a miracle, someone cares about me?”
Every new day brings new possibilities our way — what will you choose to do today? Tomorrow or the next? Have you been the recipient of a miracle recently? I know I have… more than just a few! It’s time to give back! Today’s my day!
” Let your light shine! Deliberately choose to look for joy in every step of your journey through life and to share it with others.” Barbara Johnson
This practice begins with literally accusing ourselves of goodness any time we see even a glimmer of a quality we wish to uphold. Then we can feed those qualities with our energy and recognition, sharing it with others. (You Are Oprah, p 45). Isn’t this what the Nurtured Heart Approach™ is all about? Choices? Greatness? Kindness? Patience? Joy?
“If you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love.” Maya Angelou
As much as I love Maya Angelou, hope she won’t mind if I tweak this one just a bit…..
“If you have only one smile in you, reach deep in your heart and share it with the world today.” You’ll get back more than you ever imagined – not only in smiles from mere strangers but there may be in one of those contacts some connection or lead that will change your life forever and for the better!
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Dr. Wayne Dyer
Re-framing daily situations can turn your entire world from blank wall to a marvelous canvas of beauty that can take you anywhere you want to go or the nowhere at all. I enjoy seeing the pictures that grace a friend’s home – whether they’re family photos, artworks, or works of art by their children. Even an empty frame on a wall or mantel piece allows you to breathe some Greatness into it — what will your choice be today?
“Reality is what it is, and conditions are what they are. What you expect of yourself and you expect for yourself will strongly influence what you make of your reality.” Unknown
You may not be able to change the moment, but you can influence what happens from that point forward by what you choose to do with that moment forward. Be grateful for what you do have – regardless of the circumstance. Look around and then, move forward with the following phrase:
“From this point on, I choose the greatness of …………”
“The ups and downs, the ins and outs of life have brought you to this day. And on this day you can choose to make something beautiful of it.” Adapted from Ralph Marston
Acknowledge that the choices are yours today. Choose to find beauty in your choices. Live and breathe in the greatness of your choices — there is so much to be grateful for in this very moment. Enjoy it, savor it and treasure it!
